Bits of Art for July 2, 2008
Wednesday, July 2, 2008 • Posted July 2, 2008

We are enjoying these cooler days after some light showers. Heaver rain is predicted for the early part of the week. Pray for rain.

Happy birthday wishes go to John Wayne Sanders on his 6th birthday on July 9th. And, happy anniversary wishes go to Bill and Lois Koock on July 5th and to Terry and Michelle Burdette on July 8th. Have a really great celebration.

Stephen Mutschink reported that his Uncle William Willmann had surgery to reduce blockage and more hospitalization is in the future. Continue to pray for Tina Carter as she continues radiation and chemo. Pray for Brucene Norton who is having therapy at Life Care in San Antonio. She is very weak and anemic. Sterling Jordan reported that his sister, Dorothy Lowe, is doing well after laser surgery on her eyes. Continue your prayers for Carlita Jordan, Carolyn Vater and Marilyn Kahan.

Florence Blake is home after a trip to New Mexico with her children and grandchildren. Nea Young is home from a trip to McAllen and South Padre Island. And, Kathy Jordan enjoyed a few days on the coast with a friend, leaving Wayne home to care for the aninals.

Vacation Bible School will be held on July 21-26 and, again, Art church is furnishing the food for the kids and teachers. Tyra Jordan is collecting money to buy food (and you all know what that cost) and will be glad to have your contributions and your help in to kitchen.

Joyce Mutschink reported that because of all of the donated fresh vegetables and baked goods, over $3000 was raised on Saturday at the Farmer’s Market and Bake Sale. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this event. The Food Bank thanks you.

The Art Men’s Choir sang a special hymn titled “In His Love” that was written by our own Emily Jordan. It is a very inspirational hymn. They also sang it at the 5th Sunday Sing.

Our service was also blessed with musical specials by the children of Mark and Barbara Krause. Sara Dixon sang “You Alone” as Matt Krause played his guitar. They also provided the offertory with “It Is Well With My Soul.” They are involved in the music of the new Methodist church in Gruene.

Rev. Krause read the Gospel scripture from Matthew 10:40-42.
