Punchers vs. Junction Eagles This Friday
Wednesday, August 31, 2011 • Posted August 31, 2011

This Friday will be the first home game for the #4 ranked Punchers. The last time the Punchers played at home in the scrimmage against Blanco, I think they learned that being ranked #4 in the preseason, along with having the Nation’s leading rusher, comes along with a price. Blanco came into the scrimmage as if they were playing in the State Championship game. After the scrimmage it left some questions in the hearts of the Puncher faithful. Would they bounce back against Harper? The answer is yes they would .This past week they put a West Texas style whooping on the Harper Longhorns that have a preseason rank of # 18 in class 2A even with the absence of David Mora in the backfield. In his absence, Raul Segura had a hay day behind Coach Ragsdale’s (Fat Boy) line that just wore out the Longhorns strong and large defensive front. The Eagles seem to be in a rebuilding year with the loss of back to back graduating good athletic senior classes; but, make no mistake about it, Junction will come into this game with nothing to lose so the Punchers will need to stay focused and take care of business. The defense has started to come together and had a great game last week versus Harper. Lee Graham will be doing the play by play on the radio tonight so if you are unable to make the game the voice of the Punchers will be able to be heard on live on KNEL radio, FM 95.3.
