County Court Approves Redistricting Plan

The meetings of the Mason County Commissioners' Court on August 8 and 22 focused almost entirely upon the required budget and tax planning requirements. The Court is on schedule for approval of final documents in September.At their August 8 meeting, the Court approved final plans for redistricting based upon the 2010 census. The decision was made to hold off on publicizing the minor changes in precincts until after the November general election so that voters would not be confused by the changes. The redistricting does not take effect until 2012.During the Judge's comments of the August 22nd meeting, Judge Jerry Bearden noted that his office had received numerous inquiries about county regulation of proposed sand mining facilities. He pointed out that the county has NO regulatory authority in the matter.The next regular meeting of the Court will be on September 12th.
