Wednesday, August 31, 2011 • Posted August 31, 2011

The fall Puncher Club Golf Scramble took place on Saturday, August 20. Thirty two players teed off the event at 1:00, swinging through the heat of the day. What were we thinking? The Puncher Club raised $2,000 dollars with the help from all our community friends. This year, the golf team is asking for thirteen golf bags and our golfing community took really good care of us.First Place at 14 under; Bob & Carol Dyal, Jenny & Larry Smith and Matt BiggsSecond Place at 13 under; James Toeppich, Dr. Bourquein, Gary King, Betsy Henrich, Mike & Sheila InnisThird Place at 11 under; Joe David & Zac Langehennig, Derrick Schulze, Chris Hicks and Jason McMillanFourth Place at 9 under; John Watson, Roddie & Denver Stockbridge, Jim Bob Armes and Tim DockelFifth Place at 8 under; Brad Lehmberg, Steve Toone, Rodney Jackson, Ron Birk, Craig Henrich and Jerry BeardenSixth Place at 7 under; Kyle Eckert, Jim Bob Smith, Casey Callahan, Jeremy Estes and Chase SmithDerrick Schulze won the closest to the pin on hole #2 and James Toeppich won the closest to the pin on hole #7. The Puncher Club would like to extend a special thank you to all the players, Comanche Creek Golf Course, Larry Cavaness and Steve Toone. By the way, all the participates donated their winnings back to the kids. Thanks to each and everyone again for making this a special tournament.Just a side note, to help keep my parents back in Houston informed about what is going on in Mason, we have given them a subscription to the Mason paper. A comment that my Dad made to me was how giving the community was toward the student activities. He could see that it did not matter if it was Football, the Stock Show, Vacation Bible School or local scholarships that the whole town took a vested interest in our children. I know to a large part that this is one thing that makes Mason a great place to live and rear our children. If all the communities took the time to invest in their children like you do, wouldn’t it make for a better world? Thanks again for all you do, to make Mason a great place for our children to grow up and experience a wonderful childhood.
