At 8:00am, on Saturday, Sept 24, 2011, the Mason Lion’s Club’s 5th Annual Gem of the Hill Country 5 & 10k Run/Walk will take place. Starting on the south side of the Mason County Courthouse next to the old Jail, this year we have chip timing. Participants will wend their way through the neighborhoods on a course which includes some hills, a few dales, and one of the most beautiful scenic views in the hill country. The Lions Club is proud of their race and well they should be. Proceeds help many of Mason’s non-profit organizations and the race is drawing racers, runners and fitness-minded walkers from towns throughout the hill country. So…, come on out! The Lion’s Club’s Hill Country 5 & 10k Run/Walk promotes health, good causes, and, it promotes Mason. What more can you ask for in an event? And, after the race and awards, check out the local Artist on the square and take a gander at the stores on Mason’s Square and afterwards, stop for a bite at one of one of our town’s many great restaurants. You won’t be disappointed! For 5 & 10k race registration forms and/or information on the event, call or email Eva or Tom Tannehill at 325-347-1518; etannehill@gmail.com. For local accommodations, contact the Mason Chamber of Commerce at 325-347-5758 (masontxcoc.com) or email, masontx@htct.net, or you can register on line at www.active.com or www.athleteguild.com
