Howdy, September.C’mon in.Here, we’ll get the door.Hurry up.Get in here.Hope you came from somewhere up north.And you ain’t packing heat. Or drouth.Glad to see ya.Finally.No hard feelings.It’s nothing personal.But you sure took your own sweet time about it.One thing’s for sure.We need rain.But we don’t get it.No relief in sight.Nope.Stick a fork in us.We’re done.Burnt out.Fried.Frazzled nerves.Crispy brown.We’re counting on you.You’re September.Bearer of Fall.As in, autumn.Bringing cooler weather.Clouds.Rain.Don’t tell us different.We’re likely to spook.Or go up in flames.We’re a sorry sight alright.Farmers and their crops.Livestock.Washboard roads.Idle road graders.The ground hard as rock.Dry creekbeds.Empty tanks.Dead trees.Even mesquites.Nurseries depleted.Vegetable gardens long gone.Orchards struggling.Vineyards hanging on.Pastures bone dry.And so are the rest of us.So bring it on, September.You can do it.Make us proud.That’s Mason.
