Dear Mr. Conaway,

You’ve sent a representative to Mason, and I’m giving this letter to her to carry to you, as you don’t seem to read my Emails. I’ve sent you hundreds of Emails. Sometimes my husband teases me about all those Emails over the last couple of years; sometimes he tells me he’s proud of me and my persistence. The Emails rarely change- just the same questions and suggestions. “Mr. Conaway, where are the jobs? Where are the jobs bills?” “Mr. Conaway, repeal the tax breaks for the rich and big business. Work for those that voted for you, not those that paid for you.” Hundreds of times to, you are obviously more interested in helping your big campaign donors than us, the people that voted for you, and gave you lots of small donations. You continue to ignore your constituency while we slide further into economic catastrophe. You voted to end Medicare, along with your party. You voted against repeal of tax breaks for the rich and big business. It appears it is more important to make sure the president is not reelected, and you are quite willing to increase the level of suffering the rest of us must endure to achieve that end. You actively work to keep everything getting worse. Just to turn the voters away from the guy in office that isn’t in your party.Well guess what, Congressman Conaway, Howard Schulze handed me a way to get your attention. I’m positive you are aware of Howard Schulz, the CEO of Starbucks, and his pledge to stop all campaign contributions until Congress (that’s you) creates a long-term debt deal, a bipartisan, fair deal. He’s talked to his employees about “the lack of cooperation and irresponsibility among elected officials as they have put partisan agendas before the people’s agenda.” He’s asked fellow business executives to pledge to withhold political donations, as well as the public agenda. As of today, 22,032 people have taken the pledge on I am one of those people pledging to withhold any political donations (including to you) until you and your fellow legislators grow a pair and work for us, instead of only working for big business and your party bosses.I’m gonna tell all my friends and neighbors about, and suggest they also take the pledge to choke you politicians dry. Work for us. Now.

In all seriousness,

B. Diane Eames
