In 2003 a group of people from London got together and formed London Community Auxiliary. The goal initially was to help people in the community, who were in need, whether it be help with utilities, transportation cost for health care, etc. We’ve had benefits for fire victim and ones to offset medical expenses. In Aug. 2003 we decided that The London Volunteer Fire Department, which consists of family, friends and neighbors, shouldn’t have to fight fires without something to hydrate and to eat. So The Fire Line Café was born. Jo Davis, being the go to lady, gets in her green machine and goes. Jo is the mother of Vernon Davis, our fire chief. As soon as we get a call, Jo and her staff (family) start icing down water and Gatorade. Loading the sandwich fixing and, of course, cookies. Then they head to the fire. There they setup and take care of All fire fighters, not just LVFD.For all of this we rely solely on monies from the proceeds of our bakes sales, donations, and benefits. As you all know we have really been plagued with fires, so on Sun. Sept. 25 we will be having a benefit for London Community Auxiliary, hosted by Tommy Burney at the annual Musicians Reunion at London Dance Hall, from 2pm till ?. Besides the great music, all afternoon long, there will be a Silent Auction and BBQ Sandwiches for sell. Come and support a GOOD CAUSE and HOURS OF GREAT MUSIC. All proceeds will go to the London Community Auxiliary. For more information call Opal- 325-475-3206.
