The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, September 20th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 37 members and four visitors in attendance. Among the visitors were two Mason High School seniors, Kaitlyn Cavness and Korey Zavala.Lion Thom Canfield was responsible for the program, and introduced Kade Burns, Head Coach and Athletic Director for Mason I.S.D. who spoke about the athletic program and the football team.Kade talked about having to hire some new coaches to fill the vacancies left by those that departed. The three new coahces were Michael McLeod, Brian Rasberry and Matt Perkins.Kade could not say enough good things about the players, and the student body as a whole. He said he and his coaching staff were dedicated to see that every player or student they came in contact with would succeed in all sports or activities they pursued.The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, September 27th, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Michael Cope.The Mason Lions has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
