Mason High School is implementing their first ever Career Day this year on Friday, October 7th. Many of our presenters are MHS alumni, so we thought it only proper that Career Day coincide with homecoming. We have scheduled 15 speakers who will give short presentations on their career field and will include information on the education required, possibility for advancement, skills needed and expected salary. The speakers will also provide the students with information about what kinds of things they do on a day to day basis. The event will begin at 10:00 in the morning in the high school auditorium and is designed for students in the seventh through the twelfth grades. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend the presentations. After the presentations, the speakers, along with several other career professionals will adjourn to tables set up for them where the students can come by and visit and ask questions. Some of the career fields represented include: nursing, veterinary medicine, petroleum engineering, interior design, cosmetology, journalism, ag communications, oncology research, welding and fabrication, game biology, software design, hospitality, attorney, radio broadcasting and law enforcement. The event will be emceed by Barry K with 102.5, and there is a possibility it will be on the air in a live feed. In addition, the culinary arts class will host a luncheon for all of the speakers and faculty members. The organizers are very excited about Career Day and hope to make it an annual event.
