Luisa V. Palacio of Mason joined her heavenly father on October 4, 2011, at the age of 72. She was born June 22, 1939, to Geraldo Velasquez and Margarita Pena in Fort Stockton, Texas.She met and married Daniel Cruz. Palacio, September 19, 1957, and soon began their family, residing in Mason and traveling as migrant workers all over Texas. Picking cotton and hoeing sugar beans as well as working at the local peanut plant in Mason, were her early jobs as a new mother and wife. Luisa’s most rewarding job was being a housewife and care taker for many of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Luisa had a great personality, loved to laugh and loved life. She enjoyed many past times, one being able to cook for holidays. She always wanted for her children to stick together and watch out for one another. Luisa was a very spiritual person, teaching her family to have faith and honor, to be brave and strong and to remember that Family is most important.She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Guadalupe Martinez and two sons. Luisa is survived by her husband of 54 loving years, Daniel Palacio; four sons, Adan Palacio and wife Rosie of Brady, Texas, Abel Palacio and wife Norma of Lampasas, Texas, Daniel Palacio Jr. and Rebecca, of Pontotoc, Texas and Arthur Palacio and wife Marisela of San Angelo, Texas; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Jesusita Gomez and husband Margarito of Fort Stockton, Cirenia Perez and husband Inez of Fort Stockton, Yolanda Mendez of Lubbock and four brothers Esteban Velasquez of Fort Stockton, Jose Velasquez and late wife Felida of Monahans, Domingo Velasquez and wife Socorro of Kermit, and Geraldo Velasquez Jr. of Fort Stockton.Serving as pallbearers were grandsons Ray, Joshua, Nicholas, Jonathon, Steven, Joseph, Justin, and Joey. Rosary service was held on Thursday, October 6, 2011, at 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. Mass took place on Friday, October 7, 2011, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Melvin Dornak officiating. Interment followed at Crosby Cemetery.Condolences may be sent to the family on-line at masonfuneralhome.net. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Mason Funeral Home.
