Helen Marie Taylor of Fredericksburg passed away Sunday October 9, 2011, in the Knopp Nursing Home at the age of 84. Mrs. Taylor was born February 13, 1927, in Mason, Texas, to John William Kruse and Veda Brown Kruse. She married Garland Taylor in June of 1946 in Mason.She is survived by her children Harry Taylor and wife Cindy of Austin, Robert Taylor and wife Vicki of Austin, Kathy Burton and husband Bill of San Marcos, Jack K. Taylor and wife Marie of Bronte; sisters Pearl Segars of Austin, Lola Hohn of Mason; brother Buddy Kruse of Uvalde, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.Mrs. Taylor graduated from business school and was an Innkeeper. She was instrumental in the beginning for the hospitality business in Fredericksburg by opening one of the first bed and breakfasts in 1981, appropriately named “Be My Guest” which she ran until 2008. She loved to garden and was a member of the Native Plant Society of Texas. Mrs. Taylor had a passion for recycling and repurposing, Her family notes she was ahead of her time when it came to being an environmentalist.Funeral services will be on Thursday October 13, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beckmann Funeral Home with entombment to follow at St. Mary’s cemetery mausoleum. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday October 12 from 5-7 p.m. in the Beckmann Funeral Home.
