The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, October 4th, for its monthly business meeting. There were 33 members and two visitors in attendance. Among the visitors were two Mason High School seniors, Bode Adams and Ayla Reyes."Boss" Lion Kirby Groves was responsible for the meeting, and Secretary/Treasurer Gene Gammill read the minutes and gave the financial report.The results of the 5K/10K Walk-Run were announced, and the proceeds were distributed to the various local charities:Mason Cancer Society - $500Mason County EMS - $1000Mason Fire Department - $1200Mason Food Bank - $500R. Clinton Schulze Scholarship Fund - $1000Wounded Warriors - $500Mason Puncher Club - $500The Haven Shelter - $1000Bluebonnet CASA - $1000Pontotoc Fire Department - $500Puncher Paks Lunch Program - $500PTO - $500Total - $8700The Lions Club would also like to thank the Stripes convenience store for its donation to the Walk-Run, which was received after printing of sponsors.Don't forget our annual Hamburger Lunch on November 4th, on the west side of the courthouse square!The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, October 11th, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Ken Cordero.The Mason Lions has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
