The Board of Directors of the ODEON PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION will host an annual BOOFEST! Children’s Costume Contest and Story Presentation on Monday, October 31st. The costume contest will start at 5PM in the evening at the ODEON THEATER on the Square and will include a judging of all costumes entered with prizes awarded in several categories including scariest, funniest and most original. At 5:30 PM, following the costume contest, Dr. Robin Clark will tell the true story of the Texas Headless Horseman, delivering her tale dressed as the mysterious character Senorita Vidal. The colorful (and child-rated) 20 minute story tells of the mysterious headless rider that was seen traveling along the Texas and Mexico boarder over 150 years ago. The story is rated SOS for ‘Sort-of-Scary’ and is suitable for small children.Cookies, candy and punch will be served outside of THE ODEON and in front of the City Office next door after the event so that the regular Monday night movie can be shown on schedule following the children’s party. The charge for the event is $1 per child and $2 per adult. The event is underwritten by members of The ODEON Preservation Board and all proceeds go towards the preservation and maintenance of the theater.
