The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, October 18th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 40 members and two visitors in attendance. Lion Elliott Courtright was responsible for the program, and he talked about Cajun cooking.Elliott said that there is actually Cajun cooking and Creole cooking. The Creole cooking is practiced around New Orleans, and the Cajun cooking is done in east Texas and west Louisiana. Elliott talked about some of the dishes he cooks; and, even though we had just finished eating lunch, our mouths were watering for some of his cooking.The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, October 25th, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Nolan Donop.The Mason Lions has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
