The Board of Directors of the Mason Community Foundation met during September and reviewed a number of grant applications and approved $ 14,742.50 to be given for particular projects around the community. Pictured are members of the Board delivering checks to some of the organizations that were funded, including Bluebonnet CASA represented by Jenna Jacoby for the benefit of children in their program, and the Mason Lions Club represented by Kirby Groves in support of their 5K/10K run that was held a couple of weeks ago. Also pictured are members of the Mason Historical Museum committee, Delores Keller, Nancy Jordan, and Tonya Lamoreaux receiving a check to help in the refurbishing of a display room on the second floor of the Historical Building for the exhibit of Mason history during the twentieth century. Twice a year the Mason Community Foundation awards grants from the profits of the Community Thrift Store, and this fall’s grants included funding for additional firefighter equipment for the Mason Volunteer Fire Department as pictured last week, and grants to the Steady Steps daycare, Mason County Historical Commission, and new project of the Mason Community Kitchen. This brings the total grants that have benefited Mason to almost $150,000 during the past four years that have been possible because of your support and donations to the Community Thrift Store. We appreciate your help and will continue to provide funds for many different projects that will be a positive impact throughout Mason.
