McCulloch County "Heart of Texas" Livestock Judging Contest

The McCulloch County “Heart of Texas” Livestock Judging Contest was held on Saturday, December 3, 2011. The Mason 4-H Club had three teams entered in the contest.The Senior team was made up of Gabe Jennings, Price Ruffin, Sierra Martin and Chama Martin. The Senior team placed 2nd with a score of 1542. Gabe Jennings was 11th in Beef, 2nd Overall, 1st in Reasons, 1st in Sheep/Goat, and 1st in Swine. Chama Martin was 6th in Beef, 5th Overall, 3rd in Reasons, 11th in Sheep/Goat, and 12th in Swine. Price Ruffin was 25th in Beef, 17th Overall, 10th in Reasons, 6th in Sheep/Goat, and 7th in Swine. Sierra Martin was 28th in Beef, 20th Overall, 7th in Reasons, 23rd in Sheep/Goat, and 5th in Swine.The 4-H Club had two Junior Teams. Team #1 was made up of Kody Criswell, Jackson Chapman, Steeley Smith and Raegan Palacio. Team #1 came in 6th place. Team #2 was made up of Heather Shaw, Colten Brandenberger, Grace Chapman and Rylan Jordan. Team #2 came in 9th place out of 28th teams. Steeley Smith was 3rd in Beef, 3rd Overall, 8th in Questions, 17th in Sheep/Goat, and 16th in Swine. Heather Shaw was 4th in Beef, 12th Overall, 54th in Questions, 41st in Sheep/Goat, and 28th in Swine. Colten Brandenberger was 5th in Beef, 11th Overall, 23rd in Questions, 16th in Sheep/Goat, and 50th in Swine. Jackson Chapman was 39th in Beef, 35th Overall, 42nd in Questions, 35th in Sheep/Goat, 38th in Swine. Kody Criswell was 41st in Beef, 37th Overall, 65th in Questions, 42nd in Sheep/Goat, and 31st in Swine. Raegan Palacio was 68th in Beef, 58th Overall, 16th in Questions, 40th in Sheep/Goat, and 63rd in Swine. Grace Chapman was 81st in Beef, 83rd Overall, 53rd in Questions, 59th in Sheep/Goats, and 86th in Swine. Rylan Jordan, Judging in his first contest, came in 86th in Beef, 89th Overall, 88th in Questions, 85th in Sheep/Goats, and 64th in Swine.We are very proud of these 4-Hers and wish them continued success. The next judging contest if the District 7 Livestock Judging contest held in San Angelo on Thursday, December 8, 2011.
