Charles Elzie “Boogie” Morris, of Mason, passed away December 9, 2011. He was born to Elzie and Dovie (Hudson) Morris on September 21, 1935, in Mason County, Texas.Mr. Morris was a rancher and a true cowboy. He had a fondness with animals that only he and the animal could understand. Being an outdoorsman, he loved to hunt, fish, camp, and ride horses. He worked on ranches in New Mexico, Colorado, and West Texas. He would also teach high school FFA students ranch work and take them on trail rides. Mr. Morris never met a stranger and loved to dance. He was also a self-taught reader and started reading full time in 1996 and had not laid a book down since. He also became quite the critic on authors' writing styles and talents.He is survived by his daughter, Donna Warren and husband Albert, of Springtown, Texas, son, Roy Morris, of Mason, six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, best friend, Laquita “Dee Dee” Feidler, of Castell, Texas, siblings, Harill Morris, of Tyler, Texas, Fae Danz, of Mason, Estelle Ross, of Ogelsby, Texas, and Ormae Priess, of Mason. He is preceded in death by a son, Franklin Elzie Morris.A visitation was held Sunday December 11, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Putnam Funeral Home in Llano. Services were at 1:00 p.m. Monday December 12, 2011, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Castell, Texas. Interment followed at Castell Cemetery.
