The Taste of Menardville will be held this Saturday, December 17, at the Menard Community Center. Friday and Saturday cooks all over Menard County will be busy in their kitchens preparing their special dishes to serve at the Taste of Menardville. Just a sampling of the delicious food that will be available is: ham, liver and onions, chili, brisket, leg of lamb, pork roast, chicken nuggets, lasagna, sausage pasta dish, chicken enchiladas, smothered venison, elk pinwheels, baked turkey, green bean casserole, hominy, bourbon corn pudding, macaroni & cheese, sweet potatoes, oven fried potatoes, baked beans, creamed corn, green pea salad, fruit salad, taco salad, tobachi, spinach salad, homemade rolls and bread, and cornbread; a veritable feast for both the stomach and the eye. In addition to everything to eat, there will be a silent auction featuring: Christmas wreaths, handmade afghan, a watercolor, framed prints, signed Elmer Kelton book, a Menard anthology, and many more items. All proceeds go to directly support the Boys and Girls Club of Menard. A minimum donation of $10 per person is requested.
