Head Coach Kade Burns Comments on State Victory, a Winning Season
Wednesday, December 21, 2011 • Posted December 21, 2011

"Well, we felt like the kids did the things that we needed to do to win the game. We went into the game trying to have long drives ending in touchdowns that would keep their offense off of the field. And we did that. "We played very well in our run offense and made plays on defense when we had to. Our kids enjoyed the whole experience and it will be something that they will never forget. "We played hard and had fun doing it... the kids just made things happen. Standing in front of that crowd with the trophy in our hands will be a memory that will never be forgotten.... 2011 Mason Punchers — 15-0."On behalf of the coaching staff and players I want to thank all of you for your tremendous amount of support that you have shown us this football season. "The opportunity to walk out onto the field at Cowboys Stadium to represent this town and community on Thursday afternoon in front of that crowd is very special and overwhelming. We appreciate your support in your attendance at the games, emails, calls, and other acts of kindness throughout this season. "Our kids played the game with character, toughness, and heart... and we hope that you are proud of not only the wins, but those equally as much. "The first pep rally of the season, I mentioned the fact that the journey this year was going to take a total team effort from everybody. (From the school, staff, parents, kids, former players, cheerleaders, band, etc…) When we entered the field of play on Thursday I could tell everybody was there with us and we appreciate that very much. "This season and state championship will be something that we can share with all of you because you all had a part in it in your own way. "When I look back at this season I am reminded of those former players, coaches, administrators that have paved the way for this type of success to happen. It takes many people to create a winning tradition/culture and then it takes many others to buy into that philosophy which is Mason Football. "This is not a State Championship for just the 2011 Mason Puncher Football Team, but a State Championship for all Punchers... past, present, and future. "2011 Punchers…it was “OUR TIME”"

Sincerely,

Kade Burns
