It’s so nice to be home for Christmas. It’s equally nice to see water in the tanks and see a little rain while here. I hope all your holiday wishes came true and that you all enjoyed a peaceful week.

Celebrating birthdays this week on the 3rd are Anna Grace Durst and Marion Leifeste’s great-granddaughter, Clara Marie Cochran. Celebrating an anniversary this week are Roger and Tyra Jordan on the 3rd. Have a wonderful and special day.

Coming to Texas early last week, my husband William and I celebrated my birthday multiple times this past week with close friends and family here in San Antonio and Mason. It really is true that the family we have, is the family we make. I dearly love my siblings and nieces and nephews, and the next generation of great nieces and nephews, but the friends who I have adopted as my extended family mean just as much to me. I’d love to list all the special people in my life who enrich it with their very presence but I only have so much room. They know who they are and I hope they do know how much they mean to me.

After an early Christmas Eve celebration with family in San Antonio, we breezed up here to attend Christmas Eve services at the Art United Methodist Church. It was wonderful to see so many people and their families come out to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus.

I must admit to being shocked when I heard about several churches around the nation that were cancelling church services on Sunday because it was Christmas. Seems to me that because it is CHRISTmas, more than ever we should be attending church on this special day. And we should be attending with the younger generations of our family, encouraging them to let Christ into their lives. Christ IS Christmas. Jesus IS the reason for the season. These aren’t just cute catch phrases someone thought up, these are FACTS, and the sooner we remember that, the better off this world is going to be.

What does God want from us? Ultimately, I think, He wants us to trust in Him and the promises He has made to us. To trust in Him, we must have faith, we must stand firm in our belief in His word. We must celebrate His life and death. We must love one another as He loves us. Trust in the Lord.
