The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, January 3rd, for its monthly business meeting. There were 31 members and three visitors in attendance. "Boss" Lion Kirby Groves was responsible for the program, and Secretary/Treasurer Gene Gammill read the minutes and gave the financial report.The Pancake Supper, which will be Friday, January 13th, was discussed. Members signed up to work at various jobs and times. Proceeds will be used for the two $500 scholarships the club gives at graduation.The Lions Club had their Peda-Vision screening machine at the Mason Elmentary School on December 6th. There were several students that came by to have their eyes checked. This service was at no charge.The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, January 10th, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Lee Graham.The Mason Lions has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
