Yes, the Odeon Preservation Association is presenting something different for the Odeon audience. Treasured Texan, Jaston Williams, actor, writer and exceptional storyteller, will be coming to Mason on January 28th to help ‘Save The Odeon Theater’ with a local performance of excerpts from his one-man show ‘Blame it on Valentine, Texas,’ a VIP Cocktail Party and an acting-writing workshop for Hill Country area students and actors. The Odeon Theater, like many small, rural theaters, is facing a financial crisis brought on by the rapidly evolving technology of the movie industry. In order to keep showing new release films, the Odeon Preservation Society, a non-profit , 501(c) 3, has been faced with the need to generate $100,000 in order to procure a projector and screen that meet the new industry standards. To date, $70,000 has been raised, but the clock is ticking. There are only a few months left before the mandated changes will need to be in place for continued movie showings, otherwise, it’s not a ‘pretty picture’ for those that count on The Odeon as a source of entertainment.Enter Jaston Williams. When the famous TUNA TEXAS creator and actor was contacted by a local Masonite, he agreed in an instant to help the Board of Directors arrange a benefit performance, workshop and VIP party to lend a hand. Starting at 9:30 on Saturday, January 28, Williams will conduct a 4 hour writing/acting workshop at the Mason High School Auditorium that is open to any and all. The cost of the VIP event is $50 per person, all proceeds going to ‘Save The Odeon.’Later, at 7PM, Williams will perform his one-man show, ‘Blame it on Valentine,Texas’ at the 500 seat Mason High School Auditorium. ‘Blame it on Valentine, Texas’ looks along the spectrum of Williams’ life from childhood to fatherhood through episodic tales that concentrate on the minutiae of different parts of William’ life. In his trademark colorful descriptions and characters, his tales are chock-full of his homespun witticisms and digs that make his work celebrated across America in major theaters, on Broadway and into the White House many, many times over. The ticket cost for this performance is $25 per person with every cent going to ‘Save The Odeon.’Kevin Bailey, Williams’ Hollywood agent, also attending the benefit, says, “Jaston will close his sell-out national tour of TUNA CHRISTMAS, go home and do some laundry,
