Wednesday, February 1, 2012 • Posted February 1, 2012

RV Care-A-Vanners is a volunteer program for anyone who travels in a recreational vehicle, wants to build Habitat houses and have fun doing it. There are four groups of volunteers who will begin arriving in Mason on February 12th. The last work day is scheduled for Friday, April 20th. The following is the schedule for the dates the Care-A-Vanners will be working and the number of workers expected.- 6 workers arrive Sunday 2/12, last work day Friday 2/24; - 19 workers arrive Sunday 2/26, last work day Friday 3/16;- 9 workers arrive Sunday 3/18, last work day Friday 3/30;- up to 20 workers arrive Sunday4/1, last work day Friday 4/20It’s traditionally been the responsibility of the local Habitat organization and the community they serve to provide a light lunch for the volunteers. Some of the items served last year include, soup, sandwiches, salads or casseroles. You may have a location in mind and it might depend on the number of people expected. Some of the local congregations are allowing the use of their social halls for this purpose. The faculty of Mason High School is serving lunch to the volunteers at the high school on Friday, February 24th, and we’re happy they’ll get a chance to see the local high school and visit with the faculty members. If you or your group would like to volunteer to prepare and serve lunch to the Care-A-Vanners, please contact Megan Bierschwale at or 325-347-7666.
