Check Out the Library and Lend Your Support
Wednesday, February 1, 2012 • Posted February 1, 2012

Mason is called the Gem of the Hill Country, and the Mason County M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library could be called the Gem of Mason County. If you haven’t been there lately, stop by! There are new windows and new furniture. There are ten computers available for public use, with free WiFi. You can enjoy spending a few moments, or longer, with access to comfortable reading areas, a special section for young readers, and a stocked coffee/soda bar. We have a very substantial current DVD and audiobook section, and all can be checked out for free. The Library adds new books weekly, and these are easy to find in a special designated section. You can even check out a Nook or a Kindle to see if you like reading ebooks. The Mason County Library maintains its own website where you can check out ebooks for these devices, or you can order or renew your hardback books online. We are so fortunate to have this lovely facility in our community, but we need your help. Legislative cuts have made a huge financial impact on our Library, and we need to actively give our support. The Friends of the Library are conducting their annual membership drive at this time. An individual membership is only $5.00 per year; a family membership is only $10.00. There are also supporting, business, and patron memberships. Being a member of the Friends of the Library requires nothing but your financial support, although you can be an active participant if you so desire. One hundred percent of your donation goes directly to the Library, and the Friends of the Library is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which means that all donations are tax-deductible. Members of the Friends of the Library also get a special preview to the annual book sale which will begin on March 30th . Please consider a commitment to our amazing Library. Any donation will be greatly appreciated. Keep you membership in the Friends of the Library up to date, or become a new member to show your support. Following is a 2012 Membership Form that can be mailed to PO Box 974, Mason 76856, or delivered to the Library. We look forward to welcoming you to the Friends of the Library!
