Two local artists, Robin E. Clark and Dorrett Townsend, have had works accepted for the 14th Annual Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit in Brownwood. Their works are two of the 130 pieces selected for the show from a pool of 376 entries. Both artists are charter members of the Fine Arts Association of the Hill Country, a four county organization based in Mason.Clark’s highly abstracted digital collage, “Road Trip,” received one of 15 cash awards. The juror remarked that the piece’s mysterious imagery evokes feelings similar to those one experiences while reading a story by famed science fiction writer, Ray Bradbury.Townsend’s work titled, “Contemplating Her World,” features a delightful, computer-enhanced photograph of a small child playing at the beach.Juror for this year’s show was Terry Morrow, Art Department Chair at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He commended all who submitted work for the show, saying that, “…their participation reflects intellectual and artistic courage.”The exhibition will continue through noon on Saturday, February 18th, at the beautifully restored Old Depot Civic Center in Brownwood.
