JV Punchers Close Out Season
Wednesday, February 15, 2012 • Posted February 15, 2012

The JV Punchers finish their season with a 9 game win streak and was undefeated in district play. The JV finished 10-4 on the year and 6-0 in district. It was only a matter of time before the JV basketball team got their basketball legs underneath before they started doing what most Punchers do, compete and win. We started off 1-4 on the year with our only win coming against Harper in the Blanco tournament. Our win streak started with Junction on January 13 and the Punchers never lost for a straight month until they finished out their season. Junction started our streak followed up with victories against Big Lake and Christoval. Those three wins were very important for the JV Punchers becuase district was right around the corner. We had momentum going into district which is exactly what we needed with the slow start on the year. We started district with Center point beating them 33-22 and 38-20, then Johnson City 29-18 and 35-17, lastly Medina 55-27 and 32-31. These guys showed great basketball growth throughout the year. As a coach, the growth of a player is more important than his actual skill level. These guys played hard, were coachable, and took pride in what they were doing. Everything you would expect out of Punchers. JV Punchers include,Jason Berreles, Michael Hanscheck, Jeffrey Williams, Carlos Chavez, Edwin Chavez, Nate Hernandez, Miguel Castillo, Luis Castillo, Hunter Kunc, David Hill, Zane Haley, Jay Angelo Martinez, Sammy Martinez, and Pascaul Callejas.
