Cowgirls Capture Area Championship, Advance to Regional Quarterfinals

After securing the District Championship and earning a bye the first round of the playoffs, the Cowgirls traveled to San Antonio Cole High School to play the Woodsboro Lady Eagles in the Area round. They started off the first two minutes of the game on a 10-0 run and never looked back. The Cowgirls closed out the half 43-20. The Cowgirls’ hot shooting continued in the second half, outscoring the Eagles 25-6 in the third quarter. Never letting up, the Cowgirls finished off the game with a strong fourth quarter for an 84-39 final score.Cowgirls’ defense forced 29 Lady Eagle turnovers. The Cowgirls also shot 35 of 55 from the field for a blistering 64% field goal percentage. The Cowgirls have advanced to the Regional Quarterfinal round of the playoffs against Falls City on February 21. The winner will advance to the Regional Semifinals to be played on Friday at 2:00pm at New Braunfels Canyon High School.
