Chamber Welcomes Topaz Confections to Square
Wednesday, March 7, 2012 • Posted March 7, 2012

Topaz Confections, located on the Mason Square at 106 S. Live Oak, is dedicated to proving the best in sweet and savory preparations. We are a very small artisan bakery using select natural ingredients, including organic where possible. We use fine chocolates, nuts and real dairy products in preparing pastries, candies and desserts. We do not use products containing trans fats. Our baked goods are based on traditional recipes and are hand crafted on the premises daily. Freshly baked cinnamon rolls and muffins are offered each morning, along with fruit kolaches, a coffee cake or sweet breads such as banana bread. Savory offerings include beef sausage kolaches with cheddar cheese, pepper jack cheese and jalapeno. On Saturdays, Danishes and fruit scones are offered. Also, the savory menu expands to bacon and cheddar scones and a special pastry, nicknamed the “Best Thing,” that features pancetta bacon, Gruyere cheese and a béchamel sauce. Breads are baked fresh on Saturday morning and available by noon. Gourmet coffee, milk, juices and soft drinks are available for sale. Seating is available if you care to sit awhile with us. The premises will soon become a Wi-Fi hotspot, so you can browse and check your email while you munch and sip. In an effort to meet the need for items that do not contain gluten, we will also offer one item per week that is prepared with gluten-free ingredients. Please call and ask to be notified of availability and choice. Because of our exacting standards for quality ingredients and freshness, our daily presentations are limited. We recommend that you pre-order larger quantities of any of desired items. Special orders are welcome and one week’s notice will assure that your request can be met. Examples of special orders fulfilled since opening are: a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting (made with love for a 96th birthday celebration!), a carrot cake, an Italian Cream cake, a chocolate chip cheesecake, apple pies, a cherry pie, and several dozen dinner rolls, cookies, brownies and lemon bars. Topaz Confections is open Tuesday through Saturday (closed Sunday and Monday). Operating hours are 7:15 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday - Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Please call anytime for information or special orders: (325) 347-7055. E-mail address: topazconfections@gmail.com.
