“All is change.”Thus spake Euripides (c. 480-406 B.C.).And nothing’s changed since.Science tells us change is inevitable.History tells us change or else. There’s been some changes around town.A couple of businesses have closed. And a bakery and barbershop have opened. The Barbershop is just west of the square on 87.Topaz Confectioners is on the east side of the square.Heard tell they sell out before 8 a.m.And if you’re thirsty, go directly to the Richard P. Eckert Civic Center on Church Street.Do not pass GO.Do not collect $100.Instead, collect drinking water in your empty containers. For free.Seriously.Inside the tiny building in the parking lot.Turn on the faucets.A reverse-osmosis system changes tap water into purified drinking water.Take as much as you want.Take as much as you need.Free.Now that’s a change.Courtesy of the City of Mason. And public restrooms adjoin it.If you need fuel, go to Weber Chevron on 87.Chevron is the only oil company to pull out of the Middle East.To heck with the war.Too many employees killed. So now they get their gas from Africa. And create jobs in return.Change.Not always easy. Not always by choice. But an integral part of life.Change a flat tire.Change seats. Issue a Change Order. It was a change for the better.Have a change in plans.Change direction. The change will do you good.Change jobs.Change clothes.Change your hair color.Change your mind. And don’t forget this weekend…Change your clocks. That’s Mason.Renee Walker is an author, poet, and real estate broker on the square
