The Mason Lions club met Tuesday, February 28th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 34 members and one visitor in attendance. Lion James Kingston was responsible for the program and introduced Kade Burns, Mason I.S.D. Athletic Director and Head Coach who spoke about the 2011 State Championship football game.Kade told a little about the game at Baylor Stadium against Garrison, and how they prepared the players for the larger stadium. He said he wanted them to be comfortable, and not "big eyed" at the size and the amount of empty seats. This helped when they entered Cowboy Stadium for the state championship game. Kade said they took the players out on the field early that morning and just let them be "kids" for a while before the serious stuff started. He and all the other coaches just tried to keep the players relaxed and I think it worked great! The players and coaches were awesome! The club’s next meeting will be held next Tuesday, March 6th, at noon at Zavala’s. The program will be the monthly business meeting. The Mason Lion’s Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
