The Mason Lions club met Tuesday, March 20th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 34 members in attendance. Lion Fritz Landers was responsible for the program and introduced Jeffery Williams who spoke about the Youth Range Workshop he attended at the Texas Tech Center in Junction, Texas last summer.Jeffery talked about all the activities that he and the other students participated in, such as plant I.D., plant collecting, total ranch planning, stocking rate evaluation, etc. Special sessions are held on water and total resource management. This workshop is to be held June 24-29, 2012, and is open to youth 14-18 years of age. The cost is $300, and sponsors are sought out, such as the local soil & water conservation district. Students should consult with their 4-H or FFA leaders on sponsorships.The club’s next meeting will be held next Tuesday, March 27th, at noon at Zavala’s. The program chairman will be Jack Lee.The Mason Lion’s Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
