I thought that age gave me an advantage about knowing and accepting things easier, but I don’t remember the weather being this hot before Easter. Not only is it rough on us seniors, but can you imagine what the baby chicks and bunnies are going through! Well, with everything so beautiful and green, it does make the 90+ degree weather easier to accept.Happy Birthday to Terra Burdette on Tuesday, the 10th. Hope you have a great day Terra! Come one come all, we still need more people!!!!!We are so happy and proud to announce we have three new members of Art UMC. Walter and Diana Head and their son Wesley joined our congregation last Sunday. Thank you Walter, Diana, and Wesley for your dedication and love for Art UMC. We are honored to have you with us.Pastor Cliff asked that we pray for the Mason Food Bank. The Ministerial Alliance is looking into finding land for a new home for the food bank. Bill Cotter continues to have problems with his voice, please keep him in your prayers. Prayers are also requested for John and Susie Jordan’s daughter, Caroline as she prepares to move to Fredericksburg. Please continue prayers for the safety and wellbeing of our servicemen and women and our homebound and nursing home members, friends and relatives. There are times when I jot down the prayer requests, concerns, and upcoming events in church and I think to myself, “So many prayers needed and so much to do”. So how do we do all this with our busy schedules and still have our efforts please God? My answer to myself is, “I don’t know.” What I do know is that prayer is important and there is much power in prayer. How do we pray? Are we praying correctly? I don’t know. (There’s that “I don’t know” again) What I do know is Jesus did a lot of praying during His time on earth. It was important to Him. Did He have a format/outline? I don’t know. What has God called us to do? So many questions! The day will come for all of us to be accountable to God. How did we use the gifts and talents He gave us? Did we glorify Him by our words and deeds? Did we serve Him by serving others? Were we selfless and humble in serving Him? Or, are we just asking Him, what He can do for us? Wow, that’s a lot to think about! How do we answer these questions? I don’t know. God loves us and knows what’s in our hearts. Perhaps our manner of prayer can be simple or elaborate. I can’t help but think that God knows the respect and concern we have for others when we come under His authority “in prayer and in serving”.This Holy Week, as we remember and honor God for the sacrifice made for us, I for one will ask God to take away my “I don’t knows’”, and replace them with ideas of how to be a good and faithful servant. Wanna join me?Peace to all
