Mason County 4-H Livestock Judging Team Wins at San Antonio
Wednesday, April 4, 2012 • Posted April 4, 2012

The Mason County Senior 4-H Livestock Judging Team won the SALE Livestock Judging Contest recently held in San Antonio. The team consists of Price Ruffin, Sierra and Chama Martin, and Gabe Jennings (pictured below). Sierra Martin and Gabe Jennings were among the top 10 individuals in the contest. Two hundred and two 4-H and FFA teams, comprised of 837 students from across the state competed in the contest. For winning the contest, the 4-H Club was awarded the use of a CM livestock trailer for the coming year (pictured behind team). Not only did the team take top-honors at this contest, but they also won the District 7 4-H contest in San Angelo. This group of 4-H’ers never placed lower than second in the fall contests held across the state. These contests include the Heart of Texas Fair in Waco, Southern Stockman in Lubbock, Guadalupe County Contest in Seguin, and State Fair of Texas in Dallas. This is quite an accomplishment considering they are competing against counties with much larger numbers of 4-H’ers.
