In 2011, the Llano River took a hiatus, but we paddled on with great determination. Since then, we have had some rain, but not the normal upstream amount. In keeping with the origins of the race, this year’s race will morph to a fun paddle and follow Mother Nature downstream! The race will be a “joy ride” this year and will start at HWY 87 North, under the Llano River bridge. Since the RV park is closed, the bridge will serve as the gathering place for all our fans!
June 2nd is the date, and this year we will have a simple group paddle that will end at Riversounds in Castell.
Come as you are. Camping for one night is included and it is $20 to be an official GCKR-er alumni. Campsite on the river is provided and all registered paddlers will receive a ticket to camp. All entries must be prepaid on Pay Pal by May 1, 2012 in order to get your shirt and ticket.
Check our website for Pay Pal link.
We hope to have some campfire pickin’.
The race is undergoing some remaking in the background and we are preparing to have some big surprises next year!! Meanwhile we will have fun, camp out and sing around the campfire, “Kerrville with Water”. There will be no prizes this year and it’s BYO Food, drinks, rides and safety. All official entries (by the deadline) will receive a 2012 tee shirt and we will have a few cookers here that you can throw some food on. A shuttle can be had for $5 per person.
Guess you could say we are going back to the roots of the race! 10% of the proceeds will go to the Melanoma AIM at Melanoma for the Cure.
Be sure to join us if you want to keep afloat!
