On a chilly Saturday afternoon this past winter, the Fredonia Community Association met and started planning our Fredonia Homecoming Festival. We have alerted all friends, neighbors and former residents about the event and the time has finally arrived. This Saturday April 21, 2012, Fredonia welcomes all of you for a country festival. Join the Fredonia Community Association members as we welcome you back to Fredonia.
Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. by picking up your name tag. There will be no strangers left in attendance once you start sharing your stories of a Fredonia that you remember. All guests who have prepaid for a meal will receive their meal ticket at this time as well. There will be coffee and snacks available while you reminisce with friends and other guests at our festival. Rummage through our book collection available for sale at a cheap price. All proceeds go to the Fredonia Community Association.
Under our covered pavilion will be booths by local and guest vendors sharing wonderful craft and art items. Browse and shop and enjoy the day at our open market shopping. Musicians will be playing some of your favorite tunes and melodies of times past and present. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs as we will have limited seating. Our catered BBQ meal will be served starting at 12:00 noon. Guests who prepaid will be served first. Meals are $12.00 per plate and include brisket, sausage, potato salad, beans, pickles and onions. A delicious meal for a wonderful gathering of friends.
We will have our silent auction beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continue until 3:00 p.m. The highest bidder will be awarded their valued items at this time. Our auction will commence at 4:00 p.m. hosted by Gene Edmiston. The following items will be auctioned: a star cut topaz donated by Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Goff, a painting by Mrs. Jean Alexander, and afghan by Ramona Kelso, an antique embroidered tablecloth by Mrs. Joan Williams, a hand crafted necklace by Mrs. Carolyn Copeland from her shop “The Shooting Star”, a metal cross by Mr. and Mrs. Warren Grote from the “Country Collectible”, two necklaces from “Texas Silver Rush” by Mr. Joe Remini and Ella Sue Holloway, and a chair Mrs. Gay Stevens. Also included will be some delicious homemade baked goods.
Come and help us make this a wonderful and memorable event. There will be domino tables set up in memory of all those old timers that took the time out of their busy day to have a game or two. These players would enjoy a game and a visit with their neighbors before going back to their farms or ranches for their afternoon chores.
The Fredonia Community Asssociation wishes to thank all of you who worked tirelessly in preparation for our event. A huge thank you to all of our supporters who graciously donated their valuables to our auction.
We will be looking for you in Fredonia on April 21st. Welcome back and welcome home!
