What a whirlwind Sesquicentennial Year this has been for the Mason County Historical Society! The Society has been very busy researching, writing, and participating in the numerous activities associated with this celebration. We are proud of our efforts and endeavors in preserving the past and in establishing a framework for coming generations to understand the heritage of Mason County and its communities.
We will hole our annual meeting on Tuesday, August 5th 2008 at 7:00 P.M. in the high school cafeteria. Everyone is invited to attend and enjoy our program---a pictorial presentation on 150 years of history as reflected in the changing commerce in the county. This presentation is a requested encore of the presentation originally given at the Chamber of Commerce banquet. Additionally, we will recognize significant member achievements and outgoing board members, introduce new board members, and provide information on the society and its role in supporting the Historical Museum, the Square Museum, and the Fort Mason site.
Attendees will be invited to become members of the society and play and active role in our preservation activities. We can always utilize people who have time and/or skills for special tasks; as well as individuals to serve as docents. And of course, we can always use the financial help from those who support us with the nominal dues and other special monetary gifts.
Please come and enjoy our program, partake of light refreshments, and visit with community members in this historic celebratory year.
