Chance Stockbridge went 2-4, helping Mason to a 6-1 victory over Benevides on Saturday at S.A I.S.D Sports Complex. He tripled in the third inning and singled in the sixth inning.
There were many good approaches at the plate, by the Mason Punchers, Saturday night. With the wind blowing across the stadium, several hard hit balls were held up for outs. The 6-1 score doesn’t compliment how well the Punchers were swinging the stick. One through nine hitters were all keyed in.
Benevides came out and gave a great effort. There was a feeling of hope for Benevides early on when they scored their only run. However, the momentum changed in the second inning on a well executed first and third situation by Kolby Yonker and Bodie Adams that turned the tables, and it was all Puncher effort from there.
Austin Trip worked out of nine tough situations for Mason. He pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run on five hits. Austin had 19 first pitch strikes that helped him to fan 11. You could tell his chi was centered and his chakras were wide open until the 4th inning when he started feeling ill. Warning: if chicken strips look shaky, do not eat them.
The Punchers will be playing Kenedy, Friday May 18th at 7:30 in Hondo.
