The Mason Lions club met Tuesday, May 8th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 37 members and one visitor in attendance.

Lion Melvin McCallum was responsible for the program and he spoke about the "speed limit" signs and the differences of each as you approach the square from different directions.

Mayor Brent Hinckley, being in attendance, said that on the state maintained highways, which include Highway 87, Highway 29 and FM 1841, the speed limit is set by the state. He also said that the speed limit on city streets is 30 miles per hour, unless otherwise posted. There was some good discussion on the subject, and then the meeting adjourned.

The club’s next meeting will be held next Tuesday, May 15th, at noon at Zavala’s. The program chairman will be John Palacio.

The Mason Lion’s Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
