Mason High School art students were honored with an opening reception for the 8th Annual Lamplight Designs Art Competition on Friday, May 4th at Topaz Confections. The reception was held in conjunction with the First Friday Art Walk on the Square. A record number of family and friends were on hand to view 37 entries displaying a wide range of medium. First place winner was junior Abby Nash with her graphite and pen drawing titled Creation, second place went to sophomore Caroline Hudson for her oil self portrait, third place was awarded to senior Alex Carruth for his graphite drawing titled Still A Kid. Honorable Mention went to junior John Rocha for his colored pencil drawing titled El Bandito. Winners received prizes of $100, $50 and $25 respectively. Judges for the competition were Deborah Hoffman from Lamplight Designs, Carol Conlee and Rachel Youn. The awards were presented by Deborah Hofmann, owner and marketing specialist for Lamplight Designs.
