The Texas AgriLife Extension Service in Mason County will be having a Range & Herd Health Workshop on Thursday June 7th at the Richard Eckert Civic Center in Mason, located at 1024 McKinley Street. Drs. Bob Lyons and Rick Machen of Texas AgriLife Research will be presenting along with Matt Kast with NRCS, Christy Keeler with Merck Animal Health, and Zane Willard with Alligare LLC. These are some of the most respected names in the field of range and livestock health. This workshop is meant to educate area ranchers and the community on range and pasture improvement and the different options they have to manage their properties and the livestock that utilize it. It is vital that ranchers and land owners understand the options they have to become better stewards and livestock operators. Topics will include:

· Planting and Reseeding Options
· Do It Yourself Brush Control
· Chemical Weed and Brush Control
· Re-Stocking Decisions/ Can a $2500 Cow Break Even??
· Fly Control and Vaccination Protocols
· Livestock and Feed Prices Outlook
Registration for this workshop has been set from 8:30-9:00 a.m. with the program running from 9:00 to 4:00 p.m. 4 C.E.U’s will be available for those with a Pesticide Applicators License. Two CEU’s will be offered in Integrated Pest Management and 2 CEU’s will be offered in the General Category. The cost of this program will be $20.00 and includes a noon meal sponsored by Merck Animal Health and Alligare LLC.
