Pet Tip of The Week: It only takes minutes for a pet left in a vehicle on a warm day to succumb to heatstroke and suffocation.

Second Chance – Mason Animal Rescue would like to thank Robin Clark for developing our new logo! We would also like to thank Kate Reed out of Austin for her generous donation in memory of Schotzie, Mr. & Mrs. Ronnie Stout’s dog of Boerne, Texas. We would also like to thank Cindy Shipley of Dallas who donated in memory of Charlie, Janet & Norman Smith’s dog from Dallas.Second Chance would also like to thank our anonymous donor for offering a free heartworm test and first heartworm pill to our group for one year for every dog adopted through Second Chance.

Our rescue group has a great need for Foster Families. Becoming a Foster to a cat or dog is a great way to help us remove the dog/cat from the shelter facility to a stable home environment. Someday Second Chance hopes to have their own facility, but until then we have to rely on members of the community to help us give these dogs & cats a caring temporary homes. If anyone is interested in filling out our Foster Application please contact Casey Clevenger at 347-4521.

The goal of Second Chance is to have every dog and cat adopted through our organization be spayed or neutered prior to the adoption. This is the only way to win the battle against overpopulation. If anyone would like to make a donation to help us reach this goal please mail them to P.O. Box 755.

This week we are in need of the following supplies:

Dog Food

Puppy Chow

Old towels, rags

Gently used collars, leashes, bowls, beds

The above items can be dropped off at the Chamber Office on the square.

Our Dog of The Week is Bailey. Bailey is a female Border Collie Mix. She is about 8-12 months old, and is current on her vaccinations. Bailey is very friendly and gets along well with other dogs. Bailey’s adoption fee is $25.00.

If you are interested in adopting or fostering Bailey please contact Casey Clevenger at 347-4521. If Bailey is not what you are looking for we also have several other dogs as well as cats and kittens available for adoption. Please contact Casey to find out about them.
