Mason County News.

One of the oldest newspapers in Texas.

Maybe in the whole country.

Comes out on Wednesdays.

And it’s Wednesday.

July 4, 2012.

Fourth of July.

Red, white, and blue.

Picnics and BBQ.

Hot weather and cold water.

Swimming and sunburns.

Ice tea and beer.

Hot dogs and hamburgers.

Potato salad and sliced tomatoes.

Homemade ice cream.

So good to be free.

And in so many ways.

Free as a bird.

Free as can be.

Freedom of speech.

Free enterprise.

Freedom of the press.

Freedom of the seas.

Free flight.

Free fall.

Free market.

From the Old English “freo.”

According to trusty Webster.

Literally means “not in bondage.”

Free throw.

Chickens like it.

Free verse.

Free time.

Nothing like it.

Free lunch.

Free love.

Free will.

We all have it.

Let freedom ring.

That’s Mason.
