Free and open to the public—for general audiences of all ages

EVENT: RIDERS ON THE ORPHAN TRAIN

PLACE: MASON CO. LIBRARY—STRIBLING ROOM

TIME: FRIDAY, JULY 20, 2012 11:30 A.M.-1:00 P.M.

The Library Board is hosting a special presentation for the July 20 Brown-Bag Luncheon on July 20. Alison Moore and Phil Lancaster will present a multimedia program on the Orphan Trains.

Between 1854 and 1929 over 250,000 orphans and unwanted children were taken out of New York City and given away at train stations across America. The last train came to Sulphur Springs, Texas in 1929.

Through literature, music, archival photographs, film interviews, informal lecture and audience discussion, this virtually untold chapter in American history comes alive. The public is invited free of charge to experience this one-hour program that is appropriate for all ages.

This program is made possible due to a Texas Humanties grant.
