The Mason Community Foundation (MCF) wishes to announce the start of the fall grant cycle. The deadline to submit grants is September 4th. Applications may be picked up at the Community Thrift Store during regular business hours (M-F 10-5 and Sat. 10-4). They may be returned to the Community Thrift Store, or to Hinckley’s Country Store. A proposed grant should be submitted by a Mason County group or organization seeking assistance for funding a specific project or need for the benefit or betterment of a segment of the Mason County population. Guidelines and a set of questions are provided on the application. Grants may be partially or entirely funded.
For instance, the spring grant cycle helped purchase the new canopy at the elementary playground, books and other media for the County library, communication headsets for the newly formed Loyal Valley VFD, and several other things. It also helped to defray the cost of dual credit courses for high school juniors and seniors.
Grants are funded by sales at the Community Thrift Store. We invite you to drop off donations, or stop by and shop. These are also ways to contribute to some of the needs in our community, as all sales go toward supporting the citizens of our town and county.
We are also in need of volunteers to assist in the Store. High school students through seasoned citizens are encouraged to stop by. There are many simple, but important tasks to be carried out in order for our Thrift Store to function at its’ best. A few hours a month can make a big difference.
