Wednesday, August 8, 2012 • Posted August 8, 2012

The Annual meeting of the Mason County Historical Society is scheduled Thursday, August 16th, 7 p.m. in the Stribling Room of the Library. Speaker is Robert Bluthardt with Fort Concho in San Angelo. Emphasis is on the forts during Fort Mason era, 1851-69.

The public is invited. Visual reports of Mason County Museum and Fort Mason will be given, plus finances by treasurer Riley Kothmann. The Wibby Shearer family will be recognized

The NW room of the fort’s Officers Quarters is a memorial to Wibby. Gene & Patsy Zesch and his sister Peggy Lavarity are remodeling with pictures of three dozen generals stationed as officers at Fort Mason, plus a lay-out of the Fort, and some Shearer artifacts from Mason — found at the fort, Comanche Creek and the Wheeler field near the old spring!

Members of the Society and the public are invited. Memberships may be renewed, and new members will be accepted at $10.
