Pet of the Week
Wednesday, August 29, 2012 • Posted August 29, 2012

Did you know that a single female cat can produce as many as 100 kittens in her lifetime? And a single dog can have dozens of puppies in her life? In an effort to curb pet overpopulation, Second Chance – Mason Animal Rescue recommends spaying or neutering of all pet cats and dogs as part of responsible pet ownership. In an effort to encourage spaying and neutering of pets locally, Second Chance is sponsoring a monthly drawing of a spay/neuter of a cat and a dog. Last month’s winners were Dawn Farmer and Barbara Arteaga. Thanks to the Mason Feed Store for hosting the August drawing.

The next drawing will be held on September 19. Stop by the Mason Feed Store or the City of Mason office and fill out a form to enter.

This week’s pet of the week is Missy, a female Lab/Shepherd mix puppy. Missy is a sweet bundle of energy who wants somebody to play with. In addition to Missy there are seven other puppies looking for homes. Four of Missy’s littermates are available as well as several female Border Collie mix puppies.

If you are looking for a kitten as a new family member instead of a puppy, there are several adorable ones to pick from.

If you are interested in adopting Missy or any of the other cats or dogs available, or if you would like to volunteer, or to serve as a foster home for animals in need, please contact Casey Clevenger at (325) 347-4521.
