The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Mason County will be having a Range & Wildlife Improvement Workshop on Thursday October 11th at the Richard Eckert Civic Center in Mason, located at 1024 McKinley Street. Drs. Butch Taylor and Dale Rollins of Texas A&M AgriLife Research will be presenting. These are some of the most respected names in the field of range and wildlife management. This workshop is meant to educate area ranchers and the community on range and wildlife improvement and the different options they have to manage their properties and the wildlife that utilize it. After the horrific drought of 2011, and extremely high feed prices, it is vital that ranchers and land owners understand the options they have to become better stewards and earn the most from their available resources. Topics will include:
· Predator Management
· Brush Sculpting Techniques
· Supplemental Feeding of Wildlife
· Prescribed Fire as a Management Tool
· Using Remote Sensing Cameras
Registration for this workshop has been set from 8:30-9:00 a.m. with the program running from 9:00 to 2:30 p.m. 2 C.E.U’s will be available for those with a Pesticide Applicators License. One CEU will be offered in Integrated Pest Management and 1 CEU will be offered in the General Category. The cost of this program will be $20.00 and includes a noon meal.
