Junior Varsity Defeats Junction
Wednesday, October 3, 2012 • Posted October 3, 2012

The Punchers faced off against the Junction Eagles week before last and came out on top with a 34-7 victory.

The sophomores that lead this team are Riley Owens, Darron Del Torro, Colt Gipson, Chucky Martinez, J’Angelo Martinez, David Hill, Sammy Martinez, Go Chanriang, James Perlichek, Justin Tracy, and Michael Jaquez.

The Punchers seemed to handle whatever Junction had to throw at them. Since Christoval didn’t have a JV squad, this allowed us to play Junction outside of district play. This will allow us to evaluate our team's progress by the outcome of our next game against Junction in three weeks. This last Thursday the Punchers traveled to San Saba, Texas where they faced off with the Dillos. It was a back and forth battle for the majority of the game. Neither team could get an edge on the other. The Dillos finally weathered the storm and found a way into the end zone in the 4th quarter. The Punchers fought and fought and fought, but couldn’t find a way to counter the Dillos. The Punchers lost 0-8.

This football game was an intense battle for our young squad. It was a great learning experience that will help our team push over the hump. The JV Punchers are at an even 2-2. With the cancellation of the Comfort game, the Punchers will travel to Brownwood during the open week on October 4, 2012 to play Brownwood freshman team at Gordon Wood Stadium.
