Closets, attics, basements and storage areas have been cleaned and emptied for the Hilda United Methodist Women’s Rummage Sale this Saturday. There is enough to fill “The Stables” historic building located ½ block east of the Mason Square on Highway 29 next to the Mason Feed Store. Owner, Claire Bell is donating the use of the building for the sale that features everything from antiques to doodads and traditional treasure hunter finds like linens, blankets, kitchen stuff, toys and tools.
The reason for the sale is really what is most important. The Hilda UMW is raising money for its outreach programs that span the globe, but start at home. Locally, and most immediate, is HUMW’s participation in local holiday programs for our children. Traditionally, at the end of the year, the HUMW coffers are emptied to local charities such as Steady Steps day care program, Santa’s Helpers, helping the needy in Mason and Mason Habitat for Humanity to name just a few.
The HUMW Rummage Sale will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Everything MUST GO so the sale will be open on Sunday, right after church, from noon to 2 p.m. Come and make an offer on anything! Remembering that we are hoping to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
